Leeds in HDR Leeds is one of the least photographed of England's large cities, yet has some of the most stunning and varied architecture in the north. In the latter part of 2007 and through 2008, mcfade have been capturing many areas of Leeds to address this image vacuum, the result is a comprehensive range of images of familiar locations within the city - with a subtle twist.

Using HDR (High Dynamic Range) techniques has many advantages over traditional photography - it gives the ability to see inside bright shops, a well exposed exterior as well as a dramatic sky, all in one image, and with no blackened roofs that using traditional filters produce.

Most of the shots can be purchased as a limited edition fine art print or canvas at PhotoDimension, and licensing of images for use in publications is available on request.

Night-shooting with colour  Winter is a double edged sword for photographers, there is the undoubted beauty of snow topped mountains, patterns in frost and stark, leafless trees, but there is also the lack of light in the evenings to contend with.

During the winter of 2007/2008 mcfade have been embracing the darker nights by producing surreal night shots using flashes, torches and colored gel filters. Combined with very long exposures (5-10 minutes), the colours are applied to objects or buildings to create a surreal, almost sci-fi effect.

These images have been published in UK magazine Digital SLR User and are available at PhotoDimension as prints.
